The Skinny on Ice Cream

Like many, the stress of the semester is getting to me.  What do I turn to?  Ice cream and sweets. As a nutrition major, I know the aftermath—the guilt—can get to some, however, my local grocery store, ShopRite of Oakland promotion of Skinny Cow products gives me the ability to have my ice cream and eat it too, pun intended.

I grew up eating ice cream on a regular basis, not just for special occasions. Growing up, I’d always fill the bowl to the top, never knowing how much I’m really eating. I know I don’t have the time or the energy to always do that.  I’m grateful that Skinny Cow has done some of the work for me.  With individually packaged ice cream and treats, Skinny Cow gives its consumers the sweet flavors we crave, without having to trade health.

How many people can honestly say they use their scale regularly to measure out ½ a cup or just eat ONE serving?

Like any elimination technique, the fall will be that much harder if one deprives themselves of the diet.  The trick is not go off the deep end.  Enjoy the ice cream sandwich, but stop at one.  Skinny Cow’s products are already portioned out so there’s a decreased risk you’ll eat more than one serving.

They’ve also come out with chocolate treats, which I’ve been lucky enough to try.  The company has expanded from the traditional ice cream tub—with cones, ice cream bars, frozen candy bars and have recently developed dreamy chocolate clusters.

Yes, Skinny Cow is a little more expensive than the traditional Friendly’s or Edy’s brand, but you gotta dish a few more bucks to enjoy treats while keeping a happy waistline!  I’m about to grab my snickerdoodle ice cream sandwich AND enjoy every bite while not feeling guilty.
