Energy Drinks

Energy drinks are carbonated beverages that contain caffeine or other legal stimulants like guarana and ginseng. Some of the more common brands are Red Bull, Monster, RockStar.  There’s a huge market and many lines of energy drinks, with many equating energy drinks with coffee.

However, energy drinks need to be consumed with caution.  Although, many products advertise the inclusion of taurine in their product, taurine is better consumed via whole fruits and vegetables.

If consumed with alcohol, energy drinks can have extreme adverse effects, such as dehydration, lack of awareness of how much has really been consumed, misperception of ability to complete tasks (i.e. driving) and/or fatigue.

If you continue to consume energy drinks, it’s important to do so in moderation and be aware of what you’re really drinking.  Check out the nutrition facts label and cross check what they’re advertising on the can versus what the ingredients really are.  If you’re in dire need of a afternoon pick me up, why not try a nap? They work wonders as well!
